A native of Houston, Rev. Hollingsworth graduated from Houston High School and from Milsaps College in 1923. He taught school prior to entering the ministry.
Rev. Holdings served as pastor for a number of Mississippi churches, including Inverness, Itta Bena and Tutwiler. He made his home in Shelby after his retirement in 1960.
A former Mason and Rotarian, Rev. Hollingsworth served on the North Mississippi United Methodist Board of Ministerial Training. He was a member of the Conference Board of Missions and the North Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Srurvivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucille Harrison Hollingsworth of Shelby; a son, Dr. R. T. Hollingsworth Jr. of Shelby; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
