John E. Balog, 102, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 in Cedar Haven Nursing Home. He was the husband of Marie M. (Kral) Balog.
Born in Johnstown, PA on April 30, 1916, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Liguish) Balog.
John was a carburetor & ignition specialist having worked for Krall Battery & Ignition for 52 years. He was a member of Mary Gate of Heaven Church, Myerstown. He was an artist who enjoyed drawing with colored pencils and also loved woodworking, photography and cooking.
Surviving in addition to his wife Marie are three children, Ronald, husband of Denise Balog, Robert M. Balog and Richard, husband of Linda Balog; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by several brothers & sisters.
Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:30 from Mary Gate of Heaven Church, 188 W. McKinley Ave. Myerstown, 17067. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing hours will be held Friday evening 6-8 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, 17042 and also Saturday morning at the church from 9:30-10:30.
