ATHENS - Harold Lloyd Carter, 75, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Monroe County to the late Frank and Ozema Dunn Carter. He lived in the Athens-Quincy community most of his life. He was a timber cutter. He enjoyed playing the guitar and fiddle, woodcrafting and songwriting.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with the Rev. Samuel John Raper officiating. Burial will be in Camp Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Ellis Carter and wife, Helen, of Nettleton, Kenneth Carter and wife, Risa, of Aberdeen, and Earl Carter and wife, Loraine, of Miami, Fla.; one daughter, Martha Nell Robinson of Aberdeen; one brother, Johnny Carter of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Alene Allred of Hatley, Edith Allred of Amory, Elizabeth Kinchen of Brooksville, Fla., and Catherine White of Dublin, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Dodd; two sons, Donald Bryan Carter and Curtis Franklin Carter; his parents; a brother, Billy Carter.

Pallbearers will be Ellis Carter, Kenneth Carter, Earl Carter, Landon Young and Wayne Carter.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
