Stephen, 82, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the Aleda E. Lutz Veteran's Medical Center in Saginaw.
Funeral Services for Stephen were held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 15, with Pastor Bernard Lowe officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Living Center through the Saginaw VA Hospital.
Stephen was born on April 24, 1936, in Riverdale, the son of Howard and Sylvia (Peabody) Griffith.
Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married Wilma "Jean" Battleson on June 22, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant. Stephen worked in the automotive industry doing engine repairs and parts delivery for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching Nascar, talking politics, playing cards at the Isabella County Commission on Aging, especially pepper and euchre, and loved camping with his family.
Stephen is survived by his children, Stephen "Bill" (Lesia) Griffith Sr., Ralph (Susan) Griffith, Sr., and Danielle Combs; 10 grandchildren, Ralph, Jr., Michael, Brandy, Stephen, Aubrey, Jessica, Stephen, Jr., Brett, Evan, Blake, Myranda, Alisha, and Jackelyn; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Susan Griffith.
Stephen was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Griffith on August 26, 2000; parents; son-in-law, Terry Combs; grandchild, Coty Kent; brothers, Howard (Gerildane) Griffith Jr. and Frank Griffith; sister, Sadie Mae (Don) Davis; and best friend, Dick Vreeland.
