Mrs. Ruth Ellen (Ross) Loewenstein, Hurd, age 78, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Gautier, MS. She was born in Port Jervis, New York on June 16, 1940 to the late Andrew Lewis and Eugenia (Kwiatkowski) Ross.
Mrs. Hurd graduated from Port Jervis High School. She was a long-time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and worked for the Headstart Program for many years. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ernest Hurd, Sr in 2013.; her parents, Andrew L. and Eugenia Ross; her son, Ronald Jon Loewenstein; a brother, Andrew Ross, Jr; and a sister, Catherine Oliver.
Surviving are her children; Colleen Kircus, Deanna Reynolds, Jean White and Joseph Hurd, Jr.; a brother; John Ross, and two sisters; June Brehm and Jean Fye; her twelve Grandchildren; and ten Great-Grandchildren.
As per Ruth's wishes, there will be no public memorial or service. Her children would like to thank everyone for their love and support and request that donations be made in Ruthie’s name to the American Association for Cancer Research Organization in lieu of flowers.
