Manuel Lopez Valdez, 92, of Abilene passed away on Saturday October 13, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday October 18, 2018 at St. Francis Catholic Church with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday evening, with a rosary at 7pm, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Manuel was born on January 20, 1926 to Albino Valdez and Santiaga Lopez. He served from 1948 to 1950 in the US Air Force, and later worked on a road crew for Taylor County Precinct 1. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and son, Freddie Alvin Valdez. Survivors include 5 sons, Manuel Jr., Michael Miguel, David, Joe Eddie, and Peter Carlos; daughter, Janie Marie; brothers, Antonio, Jose, and Leon; sisters, Delores, Maria, and Juanita; and 8 grandchildren.
