Carl Lee Rumsey, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away January 5, 2019 at the age of 96. He was born September 25, 1922, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, to Virgil Jackson & Anna Ella (Ayers) Rumsey.

Carl married Opal Lucille Calton on May 04, 2004. We all laughed when they finally decided one day they would just go and get married because when they got home Carl mowed the yard. Carl and Opal grew up together in Watonga, Oklahoma. They were separated during his Military career. They later reunited after over 50 years, after both spouses passed away, with the encouragement of his sister, Martha. First thing Opal said when she opened the door was,"Where's Your Red Hair"! Opal passed away August 19, 2018, Carl was never the same.

Carl had 4 brothers: David, Willard, Ivan (all 3 deceased) Louis and his wife Carol, 4 sisters: Ora, Mary, Martha and Colleen (all 4 deceased) many nieces and nephews

Carl has two step-daughters, Patsy Dromgoole (deceased) husband Willie, Diane Palyola (husband Wayne) and one stepson Jerry (deceased). Four step grandsons, Steve Potts (Dawn), David Potts (KK), Mike Potts (Candi) and Eric Dromgoole (Brigett) and one step-granddaughter Sheila. Many step-great & great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.

Carl served in the Army from November 19, 1942 to October 29, 1945. He never forgot his dog tag number. After the military he held several jobs, the one he's most remembered for is his plumbing business.

He made the Kingfisher news one year when he grew a 13 ½ pound cantaloupe. He told the newspaper he didn't have a "green thumb" just lots of water and a little fertilizer. He received ribbons when he belonged to the Studebaker Club. He loved those Studebakers.

He and Opal loved to travel. On one trip, he couldn't figure out why their motel room had a leak in the ceiling. Turned out Opal had her water gun loaded and ready for action.

He loved spending time with family on cookouts and holidays. Carl was quite the joker. Loved telling jokes and stories, and playing jokes on people. At Sienna he made signs to keep everyone on their toes. David told me about a time he went to Kingfisher to take down a carport for Carl. After spending the day working to take all the metal and framing down, he talked with Grandma and Carl and told them goodbye. About 20 minutes later grandma called David and asked if I had Carl with him or knew where he was because she couldn't find him. He wasn't with him, he was outside with him when he left. Grandma called him later and said she found him. Carl was in his mid-80's or so at this time, and he was on top of the house taking down a TV antenna that had been wired into the carport he had taken down. That sums up Carl to David, you just never knew what he was up to or what he was capable of doing!

When Opal (Moma) was in rehab from her hip surgery, I went to their house to check on Carl after seeing Moma. Carl was nowhere to be found, each room I went in always hoping not to find the worst, "Carl, Carl" ... I finally went in the garage and discovered the attic ladder down, looking up, there he was, "Carl, what are you doing up there", " I can't remember, I think I was checking the humidifier."
