Charles was born in Exeter in March 1852. In 1870, he was an Apprentice Tinsmith. On November 28, 1872, he married Carolyn Direxia Philbrick in Exeter, and had a daughter, Bertha May, born April 20, 1874 who died at 4 mos. of age. By 1880, he, Carrie and his sister Nellie were living in Peabody, MA and he was a Stove and Tin Dealer. By 1895, the couple was in Swampscott, MA with son Bertram and daughter Avis, and he managed a hardware store. Charles died in Providence, RI on June 3, 1917 at age 64.
