Janice Kay Menzie, 76, retired USD 260 elementary school teacher, passed away, surrounded by her family, Saturday, March 5, 2016. Family Will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Friday, March 18, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Memorial service 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn, Derby. The loves of her life were her family, music, and traveling, mostly cruising. She was a member of several choirs and musical productions over the years. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Barton, and sisters Jonnie June (Wesley) Haring and Judy Hearn. Survived by loving husband of 54 years, Norman; children Kendall (Nikki) Menzie of Belton, MO, Kaylee (Ken) Ridgeway of Bayard, NE, and Kerry Menzie of Wichita; grandchildren Chaz, Chase, Sean, Ainsley, Blake, Matt, and Jada; and three great-grandchildren. In lieu fo flowers, memorials have been established with Friends University Barton Sisters Endowment Music Fund, Woodlawn United Methodist Church Choir Fund, and the Parkinson's Foundation of the Heartland.
