Amy J. Newingham, 59, of 732 Kistler Road, Mount Union, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, Jan. 7, 2016, at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

Born Oct. 5, 1956, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of Joseph Stevens of Orbisonia and the late Marian (Kephart) Stevens. She was united in marriage to Tom Newingham April 30, 1983, in Orbisonia. Mr. Newingham survives.

Mrs. Newingham is also survived by two children, Alysha Newingham and fiancé, Robert Wisniewski, of Mechanicsburg and Thomas Newingham of Mount Union.

She is also survived by two brothers, Joey Stevens of Huntingdon and Jim Stevens of Carlisle.

Mrs. Newingham was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Mount Union. She had been a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years.

She was a member of Xi Zeta Omicron Sorority and had been a Cub Scout den mother for a number of years.

Mrs. Newingham was a graduate of Southern Huntingdon County High School and Penn State University in 1978.

She retired from the Southern Huntingdon County schools as an elementary school teacher after 36 years of service.

Mrs. Newingham enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for her smile, selflessness and strong Christian faith. She will also be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union, with the Revs. Jeff Canankamp, Laura King and Carl Metzger officiating.

At the family’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Newingham may be made to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 217 S. Washington St., Mount Union, PA 17066 or to a church of the donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.
