Billy Alley, 94 of Sewal passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Billy was born to Thomas & Mary (Davis) Alley on January 3, 1925 in Allerton, Iowa. He received his education from Allerton High School, graduating in 1943. On April 23, 1952, Billy was united in marriage to Avenell Zimmerman in Chariton, Iowa.

Billy was a farmer all of his life. He worked at the bank in Seymour for 10 years, but never got to far from the farm. In his spare time, he enjoyed fur farming, bowling, animals, checking his cows and time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Avenell, son, Billy Joe Alley and grandson, Cole Alley. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Jess Alley, Dale Alley, Carol Alley, Tom Alley, Geneva Kellow, Ethel Bettis, Kathryn Coffey and an infant brother, David Alley.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will immediately follow in Shriver Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service from 9-11:00 am at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Sewal Community Center and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
