Carroll Deane Beaman, 86, of Amarillo, Texas passed away January 3, 2019. CD was born January 21, 1932 during the Dust Bowl. He was born on the Community, Texas County, Oklahoma to Raymond and Beulah Beaman.
He held a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado and a MS degree in Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He completed other post graduate work in Accounting, Finance, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston and Colorado State University.
Carroll first worked at Sandia Labs/Atomic Energy Commission and the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project (Army) in electromechanical engineering design (atomic bombs). He later worked with Exxon and Exxon's worldwide affiliates, holding numerous management positions.
In 1975, Carroll was named president of TUCO Inc. (the energy subsidiary of Southwestern Public Service in Amarillo, Texas), which constructed and operated pipelines, compressor stations and three natural gas cryogenic and treating plants. He later became an energy consultant principally for TUCO Inc. during the formation of his own petroleum exploration/production company involving management, engineering projects, feasibility studies, economics and finance.
In the 1980s, Carroll founded American Star Energy and Minerals Corporation, an oil and gas exploration company. In 2008, he founded CimTexCo Wind Energy LLC, which has leased over half a million acres of land in the Oklahoma Panhandle, a large portion of which is being developed by Invenergy. The Wall Street Journal called this "one of the largest, if not the largest, single wind farm in the U.S."
Carroll had recently returned from his 8th trip Rainbow Trout fishing in Southern Patagonia, Argentina. He was an avid hunter, traveling to Africa many times and holds 54 Hunting Awards in the Safari Club International Record Book. He is in the award programs for the Grand Slam of Dangerous Game of Africa, Africa Big Five, Hunting Achievement Award, Spiral-Horned Antelopes of Africa, Pygmy Antelope of Africa, Top Ten Award and Gazelles of the World.
Carroll was an unique individual who still farmed land around his paternal and maternal grandfathers' homesteads. He traveled the world and lived life to the fullest. He loved learning, a good practical joke and Oklahoma Panhandle history.
He is survived by his sister Ann Johnson and husband Jim of Cincinnati, Ohio, nieces and nephews Suzanne Lane and husband Steven, Cindy Ogden and husband Joe, Cheryl Brooks and husband Gene, Leslie Deane Hays, Lynn Lynch and husband Bob, Don Johnson and wife Jenny, Ron Johnson and wife Lynette, eighteen great nieces and nephews and twenty five great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Kay Hays and husband Leslie.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Pickle Event Center, 822 NE 6th Street, Guymon, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Burial will be at Baker Cemetery in Texas County, Oklahoma.
