Robert Jay Lewis

On December 30, 2018, Bob Lewis, 85, peacefully passed away, surrounded by all of his family. His passing came unexpectedly with complications due to pneumonia.
He was born January 20, 1933, in Owosso, Michigan, to Clarence Lewis and Ethelyn Slocum. He was the 2nd of four children.
He graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Accounting and Wayne State University in Michigan with an MBA. In Detroit he worked as a CPA and later joined the financial staff at GM and later at Ford Motor Co. Through the years he joined the staff at several colleges, including Weber State University. He loved teaching and enjoyed spending extra time with his students and helping them with their careers.
He married Barbara McClelland on August 23, 1958, in Royal Oak, Michigan. In 1960 they joined the LDS Church and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He served twice as Stake Clerk and enjoyed playing the piano for Priesthood.
In 1967 Bob moved his family from Michigan to Utah and lived in North Ogden. For 25 years they lived in a home designed and built by his sons. He was so proud of the accomplishments of all of his children. In recent years a move was made to Plain City to live with son Jeff and his wife.
Due to a car accident in 1972, Bob bore a prothesis on his left leg, and for 46 years he valiantly carried on with little complaint, right up to the end. The family is grateful to the staff at Hangar Prosthetics who strived hard to make his walking the best possible.
Bob’s greatest pastime was playing the piano, especially the “oldies” and also some of the classics that gave him a challenge. In recent years he was challenged by Parkinson’s but continued to practice when he could. Listening to Classical Music, whether at home or in his car, gave him great pleasure.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family will miss him very much.
Bob is survived by a brother, Jim Lewis (Janet) of Hurricane, UT; his wife Barbara, his children Jeff Lewis (Lori); Randy Lewis; Rob Lewis (Wendy) and Nancy Neds (Danny), 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Funeral service will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT, on Saturday, January 5, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:00. Interment in the North Ogden Ben Lomond Cemeter
