He was the son of the late Melvin H. and Pauline Monger Herring and was born in Elkton on November 18, 1943.
Jimmy was a graduate of Elkton High School. He then served in the US Air Force from 1961-1965, and returned to work for Reynolds Metals Company until he retired in 2005. He was an active supporter of Little League and umpired local high school sports.
He is survived by a daughter, Kandi Kite and husband, Larry; a granddaughter, Whitney Kite; a brother, Harold W. Herring, Sr.; a sister, Dolly Herring; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsa Herring, and siblings, Helen M. Herring, Buddy, Red, David A. and Peggy Herring.
In accordance to his wishes, there will be no formal service.
