HAMLET-Wayne L. Berg, 83, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN.

Wayne was born February 28, 1935, in LaPorte, IN, to Edward and Helen (Dommer) Berg and lived in the area all of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Knox American Legion and the Owner Operator Association. He was a retired truck driver.

On September 10, 1966 in Hamlet, IN, he was married to the former Natheta (Ossler) Bent, who preceded him in death in 2011. On January 26, 2013, in Hamlet, IN, he was married to the former Norma (Blum) Shively, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Bonita (Doyle) Bent-Blooding of South Bend, Lora (Scott) Vieting of Hamlet, and Jacquelyn (Thad) Rippy of Plymouth; one son, Paul (Brenda) Bent of Koontz Lake; six step-children, Linda (Kenneth) Shively-Bowell of Salina, KS, David (Deanna) Shively of Koontz Lake, Thomas (Chrissy) Shively of Osceola, Kristine (Joseph) Varney of Lakeland, FL, Andrew (Danielle) Shively of Lafayette, and Matthew (Kristy) Shively of Koontz Lake; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty King of Knox, Mary Aquino of Hamlet, and Janice Ellerson of Elyria, OH; two brothers, Ted Berg of Texas and Ed Berg of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; one sister, Helen Stone; and six brothers, Carl, David, Vernon, Daniel, Fred and Larry.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 11:00 AM CST at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, from 3:00-8:00 PM CST at the funeral home and Thursday one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hamlet United Methodist Church.
