She was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Tulsa, Okla., to Ira and Edith L. (Stumbo) Amstutz. She grew up and attended school in Tulsa and moved to Hays in 1953.
She married Harold W. Heuser Sr. on March 17, 1944, in Tulsa. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2006.
She worked at Fort Hays State University in the food service and housekeeping department as a supervisor and retired in 1986. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene, Hays. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, camping, playing cards, cooking, baking, her family, and especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Harold Heuser Jr. and wife, Lyn, Ventura, Calif.; twin daughters, Elaine Dreiling and husband, Dan, Topeka, and Edith Tholen and husband, Fred, Victoria; eight grandchildren, Terri Heuser Taylor, Michelle Tholen, Tammy Tholen, Gina Tholen and companion, Nate Ratliff, Scott Dreiling and wife, Christy, Jodi Loy and husband, Brian, Maegan Heuser Baker and husband, Bryan, and Makaela Heuser; 13 great-grandchildren, Hannah Taylor, Riley Taylor, Corey Tholen, Elsa Ratliff, Dylan Dreiling, Nash Dreiling, Cruz Dreiling, Mason Loy, Taegan Loy, Kaelin Loy, Grayden Baker, Jamison Baker and Brenna Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Philip Heuser; and three brothers, Jerry Amstutz, Ira Amstutz and Robert Amstutz.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601; inurnment in Fort Hays Memorial Gardens cemetery, Hays. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to to Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the mortuary.
