Mrs. Daughtridge of Charlotte died at home early Sunday morning, peacefully in her sleep. We should all be so lucky.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters, baby brother, beloved son, and many other friends and relatives. She was ready to join them long ago, having achieved her ideal life span of 75 years. Instead we had 15 more years, blessed by her love, and her eagerness to go anywhere anytime to do anything.
Among her proudest accomplishments were: Watching her grandchildren grow up; Establishing with her husband, Bob Sr., one, and then a second, family run business whose legacy continues on; Being awarded an honorary alumna degree from her husband's alma mater, N.C. State University (she had a startling number of red outfits in her closet); Setting foot on all 7 continents on our Earth.
Active until the end, she was signed up to compete in a chili cook off this weekend.
At her very specific instructions, there will be no visitation or funeral service. What she wanted was a celebration of her life, scheduled to not conflict with anybody's football game.

Memorials may be made to the N.C. Zoo Society (4403 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, N.C. 27205); the Daughtridge Caldwell Endowment (N.C. State Alumni Association, P.O. Box 7503, Raleigh, N.C. 27695-7503), or Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation (UNCC, 9201 University City Boulevard, Charlotte, N.C. 28223).
Thank you for your love and your prayers.
