John Henry O'Neal Jr., 95 of Smyrna, GA went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep December 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years Appie Virginia O'Neal (Jenny) and survived by his children Johnny O'Neal, David O'Neal, Sam O'Neal and wife Susan and Gina O'Neal de Vries and husband Lance, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John married Jenny April 27, 1945 and together they raised four children, moving to Ridge Road, Smyrna in 1965. He was born February 2, 1923 in Bolton, Atlanta, GA, the youngest of six children to Hattie Lean and John Henry O'Neal.

As a young man, he trained as a brick mason before starting O'Neal Drywall, and built many houses in the metro Atlanta area over a 30 year period. Then in 1976, he joined his wife as co-owner of Jenny's Pottery and Plants, Austell Road, Marietta, where they both worked until retirement in 1994.

Funeral service was held at Carmichael Funeral Home, Smyrna, and burial was at Riverview Cemetery.
