After her birth, Sue was soon welcomed by her adoptive parents, Raymond and Margaret Wakeley of Bloomington, Illinois. Sue was raised in Bloomington and went to Bloomington Public Schools. She also attended a boarding school in New York.
Sue was married three times. Born from those marriages were two daughters, Deborah and Amy. Amy sadly predeceased her mother in 2015.
Sue is survived by her dear granddaughter, Alexus Lentz. She is also survived by her daughter Debbie of North Carolina, and two other grandchildren, Seth and Amber.
Many years ago, after researching and finding her biological parents, Sue was excited and happy to connect with her mother, Martha White, and father, Clifford Heinzel, and her two brothers, Steve and Mark Barbe. While her biological parents have since passed on, she is now survived by her two loving brothers.
Sue was a loyal friend to many. She had numerous long and fond relationships with her grade school and high school friends, special friends that she made while living her many years in Bloomington, and neighborhood friends from Elmwood Road. Of special mention, are Chuck and Jane Johnson, Sally Zanoni, Joy Luke, Jack and Patsy Bowles. Sue did many kind and unexpected sweet things for her friends and family. They meant the world to her.
Sue had a special place in her heart for her animals. She dearly loved her two pugs, Pansy and Amos and her grand dogs Tike and Roland. Her cats Posy, Ruby and Lilac. were also her constant companions. Much love and care were always given to her pets. They were all her family.
Special thanks to Sue’s brother, Steve, who moved to Bloomington from Colorado to help take care of her during her greatest health challenges. Her sweet granddaughter, Alexus (who she nicknamed “Bee”) was also living at home during critical times of need. Sue loved “Bee” with all her heart.
