Helen Ann Pawling, 92, formerly of 2nd Street, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Monday morning, December 24, 2018 at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.

Born in Dolgeville, NY on May 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Nash Noel.

Helen graduated from Poland Central High School in Poland, NY in 1943 and also attended Oswego State College in Oswego, NY.

She was a homemaker.

Helen was a former parishioner and communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and most recently at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, both in Amsterdam.

Helen was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Amsterdam.

Helen enjoyed family gatherings at their camp on Piseco Lake, going out to dinner, and tending to her flowers. She was a music lover and enjoyed the Schenectady Symphony and musical performances at Proctor’s Theater.

Helen is survived by her husband, Henry Pawling, who she married October 9, 1948, one son, Peter Pawling (Gretchen) of Amsterdam, two daughters, Anne (James) Sargalis of Broadalbin, NY and Joan Pawling of Malta, NY; two grandchildren, Nicholas Pawling of Amsterdam and Jon Sargalis of Chicago, IL; and one great-granddaughter, Gretta Pawling of Tribes Hill, NY.

Helen was also predeceased by her son, Hank Pawling on April 28, 1971, three brothers, John Noel, Ted Noel and Bernard Noel and one sister, Virginia Kenyon.

At Helen’s request, funeral services will be private.

Interment will take place at the Hagaman Cemetery this coming spring.
