Mr. Joseph Rushton, a One Prosperous Miner, Dead.
Mr. Joseph Rushton of Lonaconing died during the night at the County home, aged 78 years. The deceased was afflicted for a number of years with miners' asthma, and was suffering severely all day yesterday, but his condition was not considered serious, but when Mrs. Rushton awoke at 5:30 o'clock this morning, she discovered that her husband had died during the night. Coroner Dressman was at once notified, who viewed the body, but after learning the facts, he deemed an inquest unnecessary.
Mr. Rushton was at one time a prosperous miner, baring accumulated some property at Lonaconing, but became afflicted with miners' asthma, with trouble continuing to grow worse and worse, he decided to sell his little home and remove to the almshouse along with his wife, which they did about ten years ago, paying the county for their board as long as their money lasted, It Is said by those who knew the deceased that there was never a more industrious man ever lived than the man whose life had gone out, and that he tolled in the mines even when his health was such that It seemed to be a cruelty to let him work.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Sarah Harris Rushton [died 1/17/1916], and the following children: Mrs. James Ternent, Lonaconing; Mrs. Condon Wilson, George Rushton, Lonaconing, and Joseph Rushton, Mrs. James Bates and Mrs. Mary Massey, all located in the West

He was born at Hermitage, near Birmingham, England. June 15, 1821. The funeral will take place at in Stein's Chapel, Tuesday, July 13, a.m. Rev. Wm. Cleveland Hicks officiating. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery
