Funeral service for former Frederick resident, Joanne Bruner age 93 of Wichita Falls, Texas will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick, Oklahoma with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Bruner passed away Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Presbyterian Manor in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Susan Joanne Bruner was born December 16, 1925, in Hennessey, Oklahoma to Charles Albert and Jennie Elmina (Harrison) Anderson. She attended Hennessey Public School, graduating from Hennessey High School in 1943, as valedictorian of her class. After high school, Joanne worked at Tinker Field for two years. She furthered her education and later did internship at O.U. and Wesley-Medical Arts Laboratory. She worked for many years for Medical-Arts Laboratory, Oklahoma Allergy Clinic and University Hospital in Oklahoma City. On January 13, 1962, she and William Jennings “Bill” Bruner were united in marriage in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Bruner’s moved to Frederick where she worked and retired as supervisor of the lab at Tillman County Memorial Hospital. Joanne was a member of the First Christian Church; she had taught various Sunday school classes, served on the church board, and was active in the women’s fellowship. She volunteered and served as Tillman County Chairman of the American Heart Association. Her primary love was her tutoring programs in the Frederick Public School system. Joanne was a member of the American Society of Medical Technologist and had served as delegate to the national society.
She is survived by her son, John William “Andy” Bruner and his wife Jane Ann of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren, Jared William Bruner and Jaycee Beth Bruner both of Wichita Falls, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, or the Good Samaritan Club % Presbyterian Manor, or to the donor’s choice in memory of Joanne Bruner.
