Freda E. (Bergh) Burns was born January 6, 1917 to John and Emma (Gustafson) Bergh in Astoria, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed her faith in the Lord at the Fish Lake Swedish Mission Church pastored by her father, John Bergh.
She was united in marriage to Wade H. Burns on April 6, 1936 in Brookings, SD. Through the 1940’s, her family lived and worked in many places through the Southwest. They were in Vancouver, WA before returning to Hendricks, MN in 1943. Freda’s faith and life gave her the ability to visit easily with everyone she met. She enjoyed 30 years working on Hendricks Main Street, waiting on customers at Heyl’s Produce, Carvel Johnson’s Clothing, Siverson’s Drug, and Shultz and Hendricks Hardware.
Freda was an excellent seamstress and loved to share her cooking and baking. She would often bring food to someone who was alone. To the very last years in the nursing home she entertained many with her kindness and humor. Freda passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Hendricks Nursing Home at the age of 101 years, 11 months and 17 days.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Evon Burns; daughter-in-law, Audrey Burns; grandsons: Jason and Wade (Kimberly) Burns; great grandchildren: Travis Burns, Katelyn (Raymond) Montez; great-great grandchildren: Noah and Kollin Montez; and many nieces and nephews.
Freda was preceded in death by her son Wayne; parents John and Emma Bergh; two brothers: Gaylord and LeRoy Bergh; and two sisters: Anna (Melvin) Johnson and Vera (Clifford) Hoseck.
Blessed be her memory.
