She graduated from Wiley high school and attended Indiana State University and Beauty School, before moving to Indianapolis and working for Western Electric. She transferred to Oklahoma City for work, where she met her soul mate, Don. She retired after 30 years and moved to Florida, where she and Don enjoyed many years' together, playing softball, swimming, cards and games. They enjoyed Highland Lakes, where they had many friends old and new.
Leah was preceded in death by her husband Donald L Pennington, her brother William Phillips and her great grandson Andy Shiel.
Leah is survived by her daughter; Mary (Mike) Karpinski, her grandchildren; Paula Endicott, Matthew (Bethany) Haughton-Endicott, Laura (Carlos) Jimenez and Michelle Karpinski, her great grandchildren; Leah Dunlap, Ethan Lessig, Samuel Haughton-Endicott and Isaiah Haughton-Endicott, her siblings; Shirley Washburn, John (Bibi) Phillips, Donald Phillips and Ellen (Dennis) Eckert, and many nieces and nephews.
Inurnment in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
