Dorothy Ponder, 85, of Frost was born February 2, 1933 in Houston and passed away December 22, 2018 at her residence.
Dorothy spent her youth in the state orphanage home in Corsicana. She attended school there and was a 1948 graduate. While still living in the state home, Dorothy completed her nursing studies and became a LVN. For several years she was employed at Memorial Hospital in Corsicana in the nursery before going to work for Trinity Mission in Italy for 30 years, retiring in 2003.
On August 12, 1961 Dorothy was united in marriage to Ernest Coleman Ponder, Jr. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, doing laundry and especially rocking her grandbabies and great-grandbabies. Dorothy was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and her favorite bird was the Cardinal. She was of the Methodist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on November 8, 1996 and son-in-law, David Hazelwood on August 28, 2014.
Survivors include her two daughters, Debra Hazelwood and Patricia Ratcliff; four grand children, four great-grand children and many friends and other family members.
Graveside services will be held December 26, 2018 at the Frost Cemetery...M_M
