Mildred Marie Meier, 91, La Crosse, formerly of Hanston, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse. She was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Hot Springs, Ark., to Alonzo and Rowena (Young) Pate.

She married Meinard "Doc" Meier on June 14, 1941, in Little Rock, Ark. He preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1978.

She was a graduate of Hot Springs High School. She was a nurse's aide prior to retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Meinard "Bud" Meier Jr., Anson, Texas, and James Edward "Jim" Meier, Crowley, Texas; four daughters, Judith "Judy" Werth, La Crosse, Margaret LaNay "Peggy" Meier, Salina, Ruth Elaine Keesey and husband, Jack, Moline, Fla., and Bernie Hardesty and husband, Eric, St. Louis; two brothers, Clay Pate, Hot Springs, and Charles Pate, Highland Ranch, Colo.; two sisters, Crystal Glass, Hot Springs, and Frances Christensen, Viborg, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren, which included three sets of twins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward Pate; and a sister, Vonda Dixon.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston; burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the church. A vigil/rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Unit.
