Alma Elizabeth "Betty" Healy was the second wife of vaudeville and film actor and Three Stooges creator Ted Healy. The latter proposed marriage to her immediately upon meeting her; at the time she was a student at UCLA. The couple eloped on May 15, 1936. She was granted a divorce the following October, but this was later nullified after the couple reconciled. She gave birth to a son, John Jacob, on December 17, 1937. Ted Healy died four days later; according to the Los Angeles County coroner Healy's death was caused by acute toxic nephritis secondary to acute and chronic alcoholism. Because of Healy's free spending habits, she was left penniless after his death and friends organized fundraisers and established a trust to support her and her child. She later remarried and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. She died in 1986.
