Mary was born January 28, 1924, in Snyder, OK, on her Grandpa Bower’s homestead. She graduated from high school in 1941 at the age of 17. At the age of 18, she went to San Diego, CA and was a civilian defense worker (Rosie the Riveter) for Consolidated Aircraft. She worked on the final assembly line for B24 Liberator Bombers. She went to work at Altus AFB and then on to Tinker AFB until she married and lived on an acreage outside of OKC. They resided in Del City since 1950. She married J.L. Ward on Feb. 19, 1946 and were married for 48 years when he passed away on July 26, 1994. When her children were grown, she worked as an employee of First Southern Baptist Church Daycare for 10 years, and the retired to spend more time with grandchildren. Mary is survived by her four children; Jimmy and Debbie Ward, of Warrensburg, MO, Randy Ward of Newalla, Joe and Nancy McKinney of Yukon, and Rodney Ward of Del City, 11 grandchildren; Traci Ward Meldrem, Justin ward, Jeff Shelton, Wade Ward, Kelsi Ward, Ryan McKinney, Matt McKinney, David McKinney, Jonathan McKinney, Ben McKinney, Kelly Ward, Marianne Ward, and 27 great-grandchildren.
