Celebrating the Life of Uberta Ealy

On June 19, 1932, a daughter was born to Wright and Lucy Ann (Smith) McGowan. She was the youngest of five girls and had three brothers. She was raised out on the Rusk Hwy, Palestine, Texas and attended Flint Hill School.
Uberta united with South Union Missionary Baptist Church where she was active on the Usher Board and what was called the “Circle” in those days. I’m told this is now called the Mission. She later united with Alpha and Omega Church, then New Beginning Baptist Church where she was a faithful and loyal member until her health failed. As a result she resided at Greenbrier and Tru-Care Nursing Home. She and Aaron Odell Ealy, Sr. Shared a long time marriage and to this union 10 children were born. She worked private homes, Mopac Railroad Hospital, Dietary Dept, Wyatt & Furrs Cafeterias in Dallas & Houston, Curtis Mathis TV, Vernon Calhoun Packing Plant; Private Sitter..

On midday, Friday, December 8, 2018 at Palestine Regional Medical Center / Heart to Heart Hospice Care, the Angels of Mercy came in and Uberta flew away peacefully. She was surrounded by loving family, nurses, and hospice staff . She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron O. Ealy, Sr; parents, Wright and Lucy Ann McGowan; .; Sons, Curtis, Aaron, Jr., and Lewis Ealy; daughters, Catherine Cummings and Jenice Calhoun; sisters, Grace Williams, Gertrude Patterson, Beatrice Smith, Gladys McGowan, Delcie Wallace; brothers, Celbert, Percill and Weldon McGowan; granddaughters, Raven Ealy and Shavon Nauls; grandson, Sammy L.
