John W. Mustion was the son of Alfred J. Mustion and Elizabeth F. Woodson. He was a veteran of the Civil War serving in the Union Army.He enlisted at the age of 18 in Capt. William Monks Company K, 16th Regiment of Cavalry, Missouri Volunteers where he became a Sgt.After the war he married Martha Elizabeth Copeland on August 1, 1866 in Vienna, Maries County, Missouri. They had the following children: Joe Ann Mustion, William E. Mustion, John Stanford Mustion, Mary Francis Mustion, Ella Myra Mustion and A.Alfred Mustion.He preached for more than 60 years in Howell County, Missouri.
