Paul Joseph Kiefer collapsed suddenly from a massive heart attack at his home in Landrum, SC. His wife, Jan (Manney) Kiefer was by his side.
Paul was born in Colby, WI to Aaron and Celia (Jordan) Kiefer. When he was 2 years old, his mother died suddenly and in 1953 the family relocated to a farm in Fort Atkinson. His stepmother, Anita (Krahn) helped raise him and his four siblings: Donald (Rosalie), Michael (Mary), Audrey (Roland) Woodbeck, and Kenneth. He attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School for 8 years.
Paul was a 1967 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School. He served two tours in Vietnam as an Army helicopter mechanic.
He married Gail Paschke on Feb. 24, 1973 and share their two children: Deanna (Daniel) Paulsen and Ryan (Kara) Kiefer.
Paul worked a variety of jobs. At the age of 50, he got his dream job of working on a merchant marine frigate in Lake Michigan. During that time, he married Jan Manney on June 17, 2005.
Paul is survived by his 2 children, 4 grand-children, his wife, Jan, stepdaughter Joann and step-grandson Damian. His parents predeceased him.
Paul was a member of the North Carolina Polk County VFW, Veterans of Honor, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Vets of Valor Motorcycle Club. Memorial Services will be held on May 19,2019, 1-4PM at UAW Hall, 2920 Oregon St., Oshkosh, WI.
