TYRO – A funeral service for Charles Ashby Staton, 67, his wife, Mrs. Flossie Lawhorne Staton, 58, and a daughter, Linda Hope Staton, 19, all of Tyro, was scheduled for 2 p.m. today in Amherst Funeral Chapel, Amherst. Burial will be in the Amherst Cemetery.
The three died Wednesday as a result of the flooding.
Mr. Staton was born in Amherst County on April 28, 1902, a son of the late George William and Isabell Staton. He was a member of Massies Mill Presbyterian Church and a retired equipment operator for the Virginia Department of Highways.
Mrs. Staton was born in Nelson County on June 6, 1911.
Miss Staton was born in Lynchburg on Feb. 16, 1950. She was a graduate of Nelson County High School and a rising sophomore at Radford College.
Mr. and Mrs. Staton are survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry L. Amistead of Lynchburg, Mrs. Clyde B. Shrewsburg of Fayetteville, W.Va., and Mrs. Alfred W. Baldock of Amherst; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Staton also is survived by four brothers, Joseph Staton and Friend Staton, both of Amherst, Fletcher Staton of Jarrett, and Riley Staton of Lynchburg; five sisters, Mrs. Ernest Martin, Mrs. Neville Tomlin and Mrs. Lynn Martin, all of Amherst, Mrs. Sam Staton of Pedler Mills and Mrs. C. D. Staton of Madison Heights.
Mrs. Staton also is survived by four brothers, Withers F. Lawhorne and George Lawhorne, both of Faber, Woodie C. Lawhorne of Waynesboro, and Edgar M. Lawhorne of Schuyler; and her step-father, Roy D. Bradshaw of Faber.
