Thomas William Gordon
NEWPORT - Thomas W. Gordon, 66, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 10, 2018. Born on April 21, 1952 to loving parents, Donald and Hazel (Jones) Gordon, he was proud of his Dexter heritage. Tommy married the love of his life, Rosalie (Temple) on October 25, 1974. They celebrated 44 years together.

He loved the Lord, and his courage and faith were evident every day, even as his health was failing. Tommy found such pleasure in getting people to laugh, often going to great lengths to do so, a jokester extraordinaire. Tommy's presence and demeanor dominated a room but he was a gentle soul with a big heart. He deeply loved his family and friends, rejoicing with them in good times and empathizing in their bad times. Tommy went above and beyond in the support of his daughter’s various activities and enjoyed many years of organizing and coaching the merchant’s softball team for the Egg Festival. He loved the Red Sox, Patriots, and any opportunity to reminisce and tell stories over a game of cribbage.

He lovingly supported his family through the years with his hard work as a talented draftsman, having been employed at Plymouth Engineering and earlier at Kleinschmidt Associates.

Survivors are his loving wife, Rosalie of Newport; beloved daughter, Rachel and partner Micah of Portland; his sisters, Sandra Thomas and husband Richard of Dover-Foxcroft, Donna Patterson and husband Charles of Dexter; brothers-in-law James Crawford and fiance Marla Bragdon of Brunswick, Edward Toulouse and wife Judith of Plymouth and James Toulouse and wife Alexandra of Cape Elizabeth; in addition to special friends, many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts. Tommy was predeceased by his mother and father and his oldest sister Lois Crawford.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring following a graveside funeral and committal service at Palmyra Village Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
