ANACORTES, Wash.--C. L. Taggert, a pioneer of Skagit county, who died in this city last week, and who for many years has been associated in the business life of this city, was born February 12, 1852, at Nattuwa Prairie, St. Joe county, Mich. In his young manhood he removed to Concordia, Kan., at which place in 1875 he married Emma Mary Gilkey. The young couple removed to Washington territory in 1876 and remained three years. They returned to Kansas, and in 1889 they again came to Washington. Mr. Taggert engaged in the general merchandise business at Edison, Belfast and Anacortes. Besides his widow Mr. Taggert leaves six children: W. E. Taggert of this city, Mrs. Bertha Nelson of Bellingham, Mrs. Alfred Clarno, Mrs. Bessie Knackley, Miss Elitha Taggert and Miss Clara Taggert. Mr. Taggert was buried at Edison.
