Funeral services for Delores Kay Green Barefield, age 58, of Rockdale are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Pecan Street Church of Christ in Rockdale with Brother John Mitchell of Pecan Street Church of Christ officiating. Burial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Kay Barefield was born December 17, 1959 in the Griffin Chapel community to Bennie Cornelius and Gertharine (Black) Green, Sr. She attended Rockdale High School. She and Kenneth Barefield were married.
Kay worked in home health as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed her family, loved to cook (everyone loved her enchiladas) and loved to prepare for family gatherings. Kay was baptized at Hillcrest Church of Christ in Corpus Christi and was again baptized at Pecan Street Church of Christ in Rockdale.
She passed away early Saturday morning, December 8, 2018 in the Seton Medical Center in Round Rock.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cornelius Green; a sister, Dimple Ray Jones; and three brothers, Bennie Cornelius Green, Edward J. Green and Billy Charles Green.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Barefield of Rockdale; her children, Roy White, Jr. and wife, Sharee of Oak Harbor, Washington, Tiffany White of Tyler, Joshua Gwyn of Cameron and Phillip Barefield of Temple; ten grandchildren, Joseph, Madison, Victoria, Quintrell, Byron, Javion, Bralyn, Zayd, Krista and Mia; her mother, Gertharine Green of Rockdale; five sisters, Juanita Rogers and husband, Joe of Houston, Ethel Mae Shelton of Corpus Christi, Vera Nell Sanders of Rockdale, Mary Louise Butler and husband, Pinky of Tyler and Doris August and husband, Leroy of Webster; three brothers, Elias Green and wife, Margaret of Rockdale, Ronnie Green of Rockdale and Richard Green and wife, Becky of Rockdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
