David Henry Collins, 69, of Frelsburg, Texas, passed away on December 9, 2018 in Sugar Land, Texas with his family by his side.
He was born on August 8, 1949 to Sill Estel Collins and Ruth (Walker) Collins in Silsbee, TX. On June 26, 1971 he married Rebecca Mosley.
David was a retired construction superintendent and worked for Lyondell-Citgo for 36 years. He spent time in the Army from 1969 to 1971.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus.
Before his illness David was a member of New Ulm Lions Club, Frelsburg Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion. David enjoyed running, biking, reading, travel, living in the country, building a fire in the firepit, and hanging out in his barn and shop.
David is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Collins of Frelsburg, TX; daughter, Jana Mead and husband David of Austin, TX; son, Chris Collins and wife Lee Anne of Pearland, TX; sisters, Gaynell Mitchell and husband Billy of Livingston, TX, and Mary Polvadore and husband Buford of Houston, TX; brother, Leland Collins and wife Joyce of Baytown, TX; and 2 grandchildren, Meleah Collins and Zoe Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sill Estel and Ruth Collins, and a grandson, Jonas Collins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas; and on Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, Texas with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating.
Burial will take place in Welcome Lutheran Cemetery in Welcome, Texas.
