Barbara is the daughter of Eugene Edmond Woodward and Irene Viola Erickson Woodward of Littleton, Colorado. Barbara’s parents took their wedding vows on August 1928 in Littleton, Colorado.

Barbara was the oldest of her other four siblings; two younger brothers and two younger sisters. Her youngest brother predeceased her when he was about 3 years old, circa 1931.

Both Barbara and husband Donald Wayne Chance grew up in Jefferson County and attended Bear Creek High School in Lakewood. They were married on August 18, 1946, in Arapahoe County, Colorado. Their last resident home was located on South Logan Street in Centennial, Colorado.

After Don joined the army, they left their little farmhouse in Colorado to live for a few years in Germany. Barbara and her husband Don had a rich and adventuresome life together.

Barbara and Don were the loving parents of three children; two daughters and one son; all born in Colorado; their only son passed away a few months before Barbara. We can only imagine how difficult this was for Barbara to witness one of her children preceded her in death.

Health problems made life challenging for Barbara during her adult life but she was always optimistic. When she spoke she sounded as if she was singing. She was a devout Christian Scientist and she memorized Mary Baker Eddie’s “Statement of Being” which clearly states that we are spiritual beings and practice “mind over matter”. Her strong Christian faith made her life joyful and it became clear that she was at peace because of her faith in God.

Over her lifetime, Barbara was a vocalist, a pianist, an artist, and a skilled craft person. Her crochet work was prolific and considered by many to be amazing.

Don trained and served as a combat medic SP2 in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and the Korean War. Don died in Centennial Colorado at the age of 75. Both Don and Barbara are inurned in the same section and site at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.

A cousins' statement of love:
Barbara Jean Woodward Chance ~ we have lost a beautiful and spiritual person. I can't think of anyone I admire more. Wait for me. I will see your beautiful smile and hear your sweet voice again. (Carolyn Kay Woodward Howard ~ 2019)
