Jerome Arthur Arneson, age 86, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away in Jamestown, ND.

Jerome was born July 30, 1932 on the family farm near the Sheyenne River in rural Cooperstown, ND the son of Albin and Hazel (Monson) Arneson.

On March 23, 1995 he married Marilyn (Blackwell) Vigesaa.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, step grandson James Barnhart III, sisters Vivian Tucker and Carolyn Held.

Interment will be in the Sheyenne Valley Cemetery.

Jerome Arthur Arneson, age 86, resident of Cooperstown, ND, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at Eventide in Jamestown, ND. Jerome was born July 30, 1932, on the family farm near the Sheyenne River in rural Cooperstown, the son of Albin and Hazel (Monson) Arneson. He grew up and attended Greenview country school and Oak Grove country school. At age 18 he started a career as an iron worker building towers around the United States and other foreign countries. In North Dakota he helped build some of the tallest iron structures and locally he worked on the Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile Site. He spent many weekends helping his parents on the family farm and in 1966 he took over the farm. Jerome had a love for airplanes throughout his life. At an early age he started taking flying lessons and became a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol. Jerome bought his first airplane in 1976. On March 23, 1995, he married Marilyn (Blackwell) Vigesaa. The couple made their home in rural Cooperstown.
He was very active with the International Flying Farmers. He and Marilyn attended numerous functions within the organization. Surviving members of the family include his wife Marilyn of Cooperstown, ND; stepdaughters, Sharon (Richard Pople) Claridge of Fairfax, VA and Mari (Jim) Barnhart of Indianapolis, IN; stepson, Christopher Vigesaa of Cooperstown, ND; 10 step grandchildren, sister Mary Ann (John) Payne of Lee, FL, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; step grandson, James Barnhart III; and sisters, Vivian Tucker and Carolyn Held. Funeral services for Jerome will be held Monday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. in the Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church, rural Finley, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 16, from 4-6 p.m. with a 6 p.m. family service in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Sheyenne Valley Cemetery. Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
