When Daisy married Willis McCord on June 25, 1894, she said she was 18 years old and that her parents were William DeHaven and Martha "Smithey." In her obituary Daisy's date of birth was reported as January 8, 1876, parents named as Mr. and Mrs. William DeHaven. In William DeHaven's obituary, Daisy McCord was named as one of his two deceased daughters.
There was no female, age 4, listed in the 1880 census with William DeHaven's family. Nor was there a female, age 4, counted in 1880 with Martha Smiddy's family.~The Quill, page 1

DIED.--At her home, 5 miles southwest of LaHarpe, Saturday Nov. 8, 1902, at 6 o'clock p. m., Mrs. Daisy (DeHaven) McCord, wife of Willis W. McCord, aged 25 years and 10 months.
Daisy McCord, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. DeHaven, was born Jan. 8, 1876. She was married to Willis McCord June 22 [sic], 1894. She leaves besides her husband, parents and brothers and sister, a little daughter aged 7 years. One little boy, Wilbur Fay died at the age of 11 months. When a young woman she confessed her faith in her Saviour and was one of the first baptized in the new baptistry of the old church. Daisy was a kind and loving wife and mother, a good neighbor, a faithful friend and will be greatly missed by a host of friends outside her own family.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church, this city, today at 11 o'clock, a. m., Elder Elsea officiating. Burial in LaHarpe cemetery.
