Mrs Alice (Cosgrove) Downs, 67, of Willington Hill, retired school teacher, died Tuesday morning at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs after a short illness.
She was born in Brooklyn New York, September 3, 1887 a daughter of Frank and Katherine (Vanderbilt) Cosgrove. She moved to this town as a young girl to live with her grandparents. She also lived in Willington for several years.
She was a member of Rebekah Lodge and the Woman's Relief Corps of Willimantic. She leaves a son, William V Downs of Eagleville; a daughter, Mrs. Murle Bugbee of Old Lyme; two brothers, George and James Cosgrove; a sister, Mrs James Joss all of Stamford; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Yost Funeral Home, Stafford Springs. The Rev.John Downes, pastor of the East Glastonbury Methodist Church, a nephew of the deceased, will officiate.
Burial will be in Willington Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m.
