Moody - Blount Vows Said In Double Ring Ceremony

PHILADELPHIA - Miss Marcia Jean Blount became the bride of Henry Greely Moody in an evening wedding in the First Baptist church. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Latting and Mr. and Mrs. Preston Moody of Laurel.

The Rev. Ray Grissett officiated at the double ring ceremony in a setting of jade fern balls and brass and crystal hurricane candelabra. Music was presented by Mrs. Gully Yates, organist, and Mrs. Jimmie Beckham of Birmingham, Ala., flutest.

The bride, given in marriage by her step-father, wore a gown of white organza and peau d'ange lace enhanced with pearls and flounces and featuring a chapel-length train. The fingertip veil of illusion, made by her mother, fell from a crown of lace, pearls and illusion flounces. The bride carried a bouquet of orchids, stephannotis and gypsophila.

Miss Kaye Calvert of Louisville attended her roommate as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Becky Barfoot, Miss Bonnie Ree of New Orleans, cousins of the bride; Miss Mary Anne Hall of Hollandale, Miss Martha Allen of New Orleans, Miss Elizabeth Fuller of Laurel and Mrs. Danny Fulton of Starkville.

The attendants wore gowns of pink floral printed polyester chiffon designed with shirred bodices accented with ruffles. They carried silk bouquets of sweet peas and gypsophila.

Attending his brother as best man was Capt. Thomas Moody of Colorado Springs. Groomsmen were Chan Blount of New Orleans, brother of the bride; Louis Crumbley, Ben Graves, Frankie Kellus of Laurel, Mark McKay and Maurice Malone of Meridian. Ushers were Billy Taylor, Lowry Hicks of Laurel, Dave Gibson of Forest and Kim Cox of Leland. Mrs. Latting chose for her daughter's wedding a pink on lime green flora chiffon gown. The mother of the bridegroom selected a mint green crepe knit gown. Mrs. J. C. Barfoot, grandmother of the bride, wore an aqua knit gown. Each wore an orchid corsage.

A reception was held following the ceremony in the home of the parents of the bride. Hurricane globes lighted the walkway. Mr. Latting and Mrs. Monte Bee of New Orleans, La., aunt of the bride, greeted the guests.

Miss Susan Bee of New Orleans, cousin of the bride, presided at the register table that was accented with a silver candelabrum and nosegays. The rooms were enhanced with arrangements of silk flowers, roses and spring blossoms.

The bride's table covered with linen and lace held the four-tiered cake accented with roses and lilies-of-the-valley and topped with love birds. A candelabrum holding roses, Fuji chrysanthemums and baby's breath centered the table.

Assisting were Mrs. Wesley Johnson of Starkville, Mrs. Charlie Peterson of Atlanta, Ga.. Mrs. Sam Blount of Yazoo City, Miss Anna Spencer, Miss Jeanne Mills, Miss Nancy Molpus, Mr. and Mrs. Monte Bee of New Orleans, Mrs. James Hardy of Meridian, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Galberrs, Mrs. Homer Lofton Hooper, Mrs. John D. McKee, Mrs. Paul Stokes, Mrs. Norman Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. Swayze McKeithen, Mrs. W. J. Gipson, Mrs. Morris Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Guarrett, Mrs. Porter Jordan, Mrs. Jack McClain and Hugh Thomasson.

Stanley Dearman presented piano music. Rice bags were distributed by Miss Betsy Bee of New Orleans, cousin of the bride; and Miss Anne Kinard of Petal. Mrs. Allen Spencer also assisted.

For traveling, the bride chose a beige linen ensemble and an orange blouse.

The couple will make their home in Starkville.

The parents of the bridegroom entertained the wedding party and out-of-town guests with a rehearsal dinner party, at Lake Tiah-O-Khata in Louisville on the eve of the wedding.

The bridesmaids' luncheon was held at Lake Tiah-O-Khata prior to the wedding with Mrs. Pruitt Calvert, her daughter, Kaye, Mrs. Danny Fulton of Starkville and Miss Martha Allen of New Orleans as hostesses.

Out-of-town guests were entertained on the day of the wedding with a luncheon held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Molpus.
