Henry Boitnott, Sr. born in 1822 married Adaline Goode April 28, 1850 in Boones Mill, Virginia. She died sometime between 1856 - 1859 in Boones Mill, Virginia. He then married Elizabeth "Betty" Altick on September 20, 1859 at the Tunker Meeting House in Franklin County, Virginia. Henry then married for a third time, Sarah Hodges on November 11, 1873 in Franklin County, Virginia.
He and his three wives were buried in the Boitnott Cemetery, located about three miles east of Boones Mills, Virginia.
Henry, Sr. was a farmer, first owning a a tract of land on White Oak Bottom Creek. He sold this and bought land Maggody Creek. This became the homeplace of all of his children and remained in the family until a few years ago. Henry, Sr. had nine children, James T.; Henry Jr.; Christopher; Obediah; John P.; William H.; Martha Ann; Lou Ellen and Alda.
