Hugo Christian Grobe, a retired chipper for Avondale shipyard, died Sunday at his home. He was 92. Mr. Grobe was born in Marion, Texas, and lived in Westwego for 48 years and in St. Tammany Parish for the past three years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a former employee of Celotex. Survivors include a son, Emile J. Grobe; a daughter, Portia A. Perino; two sisters, Thelma Schneider and Melanie Crup; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.
