OBITUARY: Thor E. Bogren Sr., 78, Scranton, passed away late Jan. 28, 1988, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Bogren was a farmer and coal miner during his earlier years, then worked several years for the Morrell Packing Co., in Topeka. He later worked about 28 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., in Topeka, first as a final inspector of truck tires, then in the step-down area until he retired in 1974. He was born May 11, 1909, on a farm near Scranton, the son of August and Selma Josephine Ahlen Bogren, and lived in the Scranton community most of his life. Mr. Bogren was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scranton and United Rubber Workers Union, Local No. 307, at Topeka. He was married to Mildred U. Graham in July 1933, at Scranton. They were divorced. He was married to Beulah Rowe Aug. 18, 1957. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hamblin, Whttier, Calif.; three sons, Thor E. Bogren Jr., Normal, Ill., John T Bogren, Bonsail, Calif., and Donald T. Bogren, Topeka and nine grandchildren. Services were at 10 a.m. Feb. 2, in the United Methodist Church with burial in Scranton Cemetery, both at Scranton. Crable Funeral Chapel, Osage City, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Scranton, KS 66537.
