Betty Lou Rotramel was born on Saturday, August 13, 1932 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of James Robert and Prudy Leona (English) Philpott. She grew up in a household of 15 brothers and sisters, Edith Eden, Mamie Kirk, Perly Shepard, Robert Philpott, Rosie Gatewood, Bobby Lee Philpott, John Lewis Philpott, Florene Poteet, Lorene Young, Lawrence Philpott, Florence Young, Wesley Philpott, James David Philpott, Billy Ray Philpott, and Ruthie Westmoreland. She attended school at Oakdale School. In 1949, she met and married her best friend and true love, Toy Rotramel. Although their married life together was all too brief, they packed a lot of memories and happiness in the twenty years they shared. They also raised twelve children, Toy Allen, Orville, Marcella, Geneva, Carolyn, Mary Jane, Susan, Dorothy, Cynthia “Cindy", Maggie, and Betty. Betty was a homemaker and she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Her family came first in everyday life. She was the neighbor who always made time to listen to you, offered help when needed, and shared her table with anyone that knocked at her door. She had a sweet disposition and a smile that lit up the room. She was kind, considerate and generous with her time and talent. She enjoyed a day outside in the garden, what she raised, she canned for the long fall and winter months to come. This garden was used in turn to make some of the best meals ever made, delights such as chicken and dumplings, pies, cakes, head cheese lunchmeat, sauerkraut, and the best treats for her grandchildren. All of her family was kept warm at night by a quilt made with her own hands. Betty could tell a story when she wanted, liked watching soap operas, and enjoying the blessings found in everyday life in her own backyard. Her husband Toy passed in 1969. Betty relocated to be next to her family. She passed from this life on Saturday, December 1st, 2018. She will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward Truman and Elnora English, Robert Philpott and Dewilder Woodard, parents, James Robert and Prudy Leona (English) Philpott, husband, Toy, three children, Allen, Carolyn and Cindy, four sisters, Edith, Mamie, Perly and Rose and three brothers, Robert, Bobby and James.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Orville Lee and wife Bonnie Rotramel of Tahlequah, OK, Marcella Boone and husband Arthur of Moreno Valley, CA, Geneva Colston of Stilwell, OK, Mary Jane Jones of Hulbert, OK, Susan Rotramel and companion Troy Bohlander, Dorothy Davis and husband Phillip of Nebraska, Maggie McLemore and husband Darrell of Stilwell, OK, and Betty Michelle Halpain and husband Johnny, also of Tahlequah. She lives on in her 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
