The funeral service for Bobby Ray Watts, age 78 of Riverside, will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Harold Watts and grandson Derrick Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenview Cemetery in Goodwater.

Mr. Watts passes away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Birmingham. He was an Alabama native and had lived most of his life in Ashland and Goodwater. Mr. Watts worked as a paint and body repairman for Steel City Oldsmobile. He also built race cars and loved dirt track racing. He was also a soldier who served for over 20 years with the Alabama Army National Guard - 1208 Quartermaster Company. Mr. Watts was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

He is survived by two daughters: Teri Helms of Riverside and Linda Elrod (Bobby) of Lincoln; one son, Kenneth Ray Watts (Cathy) of Pell City; one sister, Peggy Kerr (Mike) of Ashland; three brothers: Edward Watts (Wilma) of Alexander City, Harold Watts (Annie M.) of Ashland and Jimmy Watts (Angie) of Ashland; six grandchildren: Derrick, Cody, April, Keri, Jonathan and Logan plus nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Watts was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Lee Watts and Laura Nettie Clifton; his wife, Paula Reagan Watts; one daughter, Debbie Watts, one grandson, Casey Elrod; two sisters: Sarah Ann Watts and Nettie Faye McCain and an infant brother, Keith Watts.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
