In 1880, Ella, age 28, was living at 201 E 84th St. in Manhattan, with her husband William, age 33, a carpenter, with three children: Minnie age 9, William, age 6 and Lucy, age 3 and her husband's parents, William and Sarah Bellinger. Son Alfred is born about 1882. Husband William dies in a fall on Apr 10, 1883.
On the 1900 census, Ella is noted as Ella L Hooper, widow, age 62, living at 2164 Washington Ave., with son William Hooper 27, a clerk and daughters Lucy Hooper 23, a saleslady and Emiline Hooper 17. A record of marriage with her second husband could not be located.
In 1910, at the same address, Ella is listed as Ella Bellinger, age 58, with William H Bellinger 34, Lulu (Lucy) Bellinger 27, Emeline Bellinger 24 and six grandchildren with the last name Smith: Loretta 17, Edwin M 12, Florence 10, Willard H 8, Bradley W 6 and Francis M 3. The grandchildren are the children of Ella's daughter Mary Bellinger and Edward H Smith. The census records that Ella has had five children and three are living (William, Lucy and Emeline).

Per death certificate Ella L Hooper, widow, b. 18 Oct 1853, d. 26 Mar 1916 in the Bronx of myocarditis. Daughter of James and Mary Valles; Executor, daughter, Miss Hooper. It is not clear as to whether this is Emeline or Lucy. Emeline's death certificate is under Emeline Bellinger, age 46, d. 8 Oct 1931 at Fordham Hospital in the Bronx of an accidental skull fracture and she was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, her executor was her sister Lucy Bellinger. Lucy Bellinger died at age 82 on 4 Jun 1962 in the Bronx. Neither sister is buried in the plot at Maple Grove.
