James Henry “Jim” Janzen, 88, of Jesup, Ga. died Monday, December 3, 2018 after an extended illness and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. The New York native and U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict had lived in Wayne County the past 15 years and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Jim was a retired New York school teacher but was most proud of his electrical engineering contributions to the Apollo Project. He loved to tinker in his shop while working on Model T cars. He was predeceased by his wives, Virginia Janzen and Jean Stively Janzen; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn.

Survivors are a daughter, Eileen (Mitch) Cooper of Oregon; a son, Bob (Mary) Janzen of Florida; a stepdaughter, Colleen(Ray) Swank of Washington; a stepson, Mark (Debbie) Stively of Screven; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, December 7, 2018 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Father Keith O’Neill officiating. Interment will be in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery along with full military honors. Active pallbearers will be his family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Cotton Grove Estates Personal Care Home and the Wayne Memorial Hospital Volunteers.

Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
