Isaac Harrell Deweese, Sr., oldest son of Edward Dewees (earliest spelling) and Rutha Elizabeth Harrell, was born November 5, 1814 in Grayson County, Kentucky. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Dewees and Phebe Brodhead. His maternal grandparents were Noah Harrell and Elizabeth Blue. His grandfather Joseph Dewees served in the 8th Pennsylvania Continental Line during the Revolutionary War.

Isaac Harrell Dewees and Abigail Mahurin, the daughter of Stephen Mahurin and Sarah (Meeks) Green, were married on January 5, 1841 in Grayson County, Kentucky. Isaac was granted 60 acres on Spring Fork in Grayson County that was surveyed on December 18, 1843. They were the parents of the following children, who were born and wed in Grayson County:

Isaac Harrell Deweese, Sr. died on December 21, 1878. Abigail Mahurin Deweese died on June 21 1882. They are the only two known burials in this private cemetery near Pine Knob in Grayson County, Kentucky. They were probably on the his land on Spring Fork that was surveyed in 1843.
