MOLINE - Alvin N. Sundvall, of Moline, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is 5-7 p.m today at the funeral home. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund, Orion, Ill. Alvin was born October 15, 1916, in Orion, the son of Peter August and Marie (Kullgren) Sundvall. He married Pearl L. Peterson on October 30, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2003. Alvin was employed for 35 years at John Deere Harvester as a spot welder, retiring in 1974. He also farmed in Orion for 29 years. He sold the farm and moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark., for a 10-year vacation, returning to Illinois in 1985. Alvin was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army in France, Germany and Belgium. He was a member of the UAW #865 in East Moline. Survivors include his wife, Pearl L. Sundvall, Moline; daughters, Linda Dorn, Moline, and Janice Brandenburg, Long Grove, Iowa; son, Jerry (Toni) Sundvall, Port Byron, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and special family friends, Barry Starman and John Mayers. He was preceded in death by son, James Alvin Sundvall, who was 2 ? years old when killed in an automobile accident in 1943, seven sisters, three brothers and his parents.
